Defined drive profiles
Supply the exact recess and matching tool requirement, including center-pin details where used.

Special-drive and custom-head fasteners for access panels, protective housings and serviceable security equipment.

Supply the exact recess and matching tool requirement, including center-pin details where used.
Show recess depth, surrounding walls and the service tool envelope in the assembled condition.
Agree visible head condition, finish and corrosion requirements for the installation environment.
A special drive can discourage casual removal while still allowing planned servicing. Specify the matching tool and installed access, then decide whether the released screw must stay attached to the panel.
| Assembly function | Specify with the mating parts | Acceptance and next review |
|---|---|---|
| Restrict the drive interface | Identify the recess profile, usable engagement and any centre pin. Specify the intended bit and holder alongside the finished head geometry. Security & Tamper-Resistant Screws | Compare the finished recess with the identified tool, first outside the housing and then in the installed position. Distinguish tool fit from restricted access. Secondary & Precision Operations |
| Retain hardware during panel service | Show panel thickness, retaining feature, released travel and mating thread. Identify the panel-opening path and adjacent cables or components. Captive Screws | Check retention after disengagement, opening clearance and re-engagement with the service tool. Record the approved panel and retainer configuration. Cleaning, Locking & Assembly |
| Seat a head inside a protective recess | Provide recess depth, sidewall clearance, bearing face and any coating or gasket in the stack. State the permitted visible contact marks. Custom Flange Screws | Confirm seating and tool access on finished mating parts. Verify any specified enclosure performance on the complete assembly, separately from screw dimensions. Plan functional tests and records |
Keep the screw drawing, recess reference and original tool identity available when comparing a replacement. Check usable engagement and the holder envelope inside the actual housing before approving the change. Record the service-tool revision with the screw and panel configuration, including how replacements are specified. Restricted-drive geometry is not an independently certified security level or an enclosure-protection rating.
Design-review examples, not customer delivery records. Select the actual limits and checks for the ordered assembly.
Review the drive and installed-tool access togetherFor a protected housing, send both the screw drawing and enclosure recess. A tamper-resistant drive discourages casual access; the overall access-control design remains an assembly requirement.
Examples describe application requirements. Material suitability, production scope and verification are confirmed against the approved drawing.
Review these related topics for this design or route. Grade, treatment, geometry and acceptance remain drawing-specific.
Match the flange bearing face to the actual supporting surface. Compare the contact footprint, finish and grip length before replacing a separate washer.
ENGINEERING GUIDEA coating-family name does not define the complete supplied surface. Custom fastener RFQs should connect the coating system with fit, friction and acceptance requirements.
